Six Earn Liberty League Honors in Squash

Six members of the University of Rochester men's squash team have been recognized with All-Liberty League honors. The Yellowjackets had the Liberty League Rookie of the Year, four named to the All-Liberty League team and one named to the Honorable Mention All-Liberty League team.

Marcus Sim – FY., Kuching, Malaysia (Bukit Jalil Sports School): Sim had a standout first year for Rochester playing at the #3,4,5 & 6 positions for the Yellowjackets. He posted an overall record of 14-6 and participated at the CSA Individual National Championships. Sim was a four time liberty league rookie of the week and defeated four different nationally ranked players on the season.

Ashley Davies – FY., Chesterfield, England (Brookfield Community School): Davies spent a majority of his first season playing at the #1 position for UR. The first-year player was voted as a College Squash Association All-American and participated in the trophy bracket at the Individual National Championships in Washington, DC. He was voted Liberty League performer of the week in February after going 3-0 in one weekend.  
 
23044Tomotaka Endo – Sr., Kawasaki, Japan (Tama): Named All-Liberty League for the second time, Endo played predominately at the #2 position for Rochester but also played sparingly at #1, going 3-1 at the lead spot. The senior was ranked 18th nationally throughout the year and was recognized as a College Squash Association All-American. Endo defeated five nationally ranked opponents on the season. He also played in the trophy bracket at the Individual National Championships, making it to the semifinals of the consolation bracket. Endo was also named as a Liberty League All-Academic.
 
Lawrence Kuhn – Jr., George, South Africa (Grey College): Was named Honorable Mention All-Liberty League in 2016 season. As a first23046 time All-Liberty League first team member, Kuhn played at the #2-4 positions for Rochester and held a 12-10 overall record. The junior was ranked 20th nationally and defeated three nationally ranked opponents. Kuhn made it a finals match in the Molloy west bracket at the Individual National Championships in Washington, DC and was also recognized as an All-Academic by the Liberty League.
 
23047Ricardo Lopez – Jr., Aguascalientes, Mexico (Colegio de Bachilleres): Second time being selected as an All-Liberty League performer. Lopez was ranked 23rd nationally and went 14-6 overall on the year. The junior played at the #1-4 positions and was 3-3 against nationally ranked opponents. Lopez participated in the CSA Individual Championships and made it to the semifinals of the Molloy west bracket.
 


Honorable Mention

Matthew Toth – So., Vancouver, Canada (Shawnigan Lake School): First time being honored by the Liberty League. Toth played at the #3-523054 positions during the season and ended with a 14-6 record. The sophomore was ranked 41st nationally and went 5-3 against nationally ranked opponents. Toth was named Liberty League squash performer of the week in February for his 3-0 performance at the CSA team National Championships. He also took part in the College Squash Association Individual National championships where he went on to play in the Molloy South championship match.
