Courtney McArthur doubled home Devan Puhl in the bottom of the seventh as RPI defeated RIT, 3-2, in an elimination game of the Liberty League softball championships at the University of Rochester.

The win puts the second-seeded Engineers into another elimination game, this one against the top-seeded University of Rochester. The Rochester-RPI winner advances to the championship round on Saturday at noon against third-seeded Skidmore College. Skidmore defeated RPI, 4-1, on Thursday, and shut out Rochester, 5-0, on Friday morning. The Liberty League champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships. RIT finished its season at 17-23. RPI is 28-10 with the RIT victory.

RPI scored all three of its runs in the last two innings. RIT led, 1-0, on an RBI single by McKenzie Martin in the third. It scored Emily Lazarus who singled and advanced on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the sixth, RPI finally broke through against RIT's Sierra Valentine (6.0 IP, four hits, four walks, four Ks, three earned runs). Taylor Ten Eyck walked and Stephanie Caudle was hit by a pitch. McArthur bunted both runners over. Morgan Ten Eyck singled to left center, plating both runs.

RIT scored an unearned run in the seventh to tie it. With one out, Laura Weintraub walked and Lazarus singled. Caudle got a strikeout. Martin's grounder deflected away for an error. Weintraub scored.
