Pacheck, Wakimoto To Run At Nationals

Two University of Rochester senior cross country runners earned automatic berths into the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships next week.

Senior Adam Pacheck and Yuji Wakimoto will run at nationals for the third straight season after Rochester qualified as a team during the last three years.  Both Pacheck and Wakimoto did not compete at nationals during their freshman year.

Pacheck earned a 9th place finish overall of 275 runners at yesterday's NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships held at Letchworth State Park.  His time was 25:21.8 for the 8k course and was a seasons best time.

Wakimoto ended 12th in the field at regionals, also running a seasons best time of 25:27.4.

Both runners were two of the top six runners from teams that did not qualify for the NCAA Championships.  Others from the Atlantic Region that will run at NCAA's as individuals are Michael Cahill of Stevens Institute, Paul Juelis of Ramapo, Charles Pfander of Hamilton and Evan Quinones from Cobleskill.

The Yellowjackets ended in 6th place of the 39 team field at yesterday's meet, scoring 242 team points.
