The women's swimming and diving team at the University of Rochester achieved a national ranking for its success in the pool last season. Now, the Yellowjackets have attained the same lofty achievement for their work in classrooms and laboratories.

Rochester has been chosen as a Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Yellowjackets are tied for 24th place nationally with a cumulative grade point average of 3.47.

Additionally, three Rochester competitors have been named as CSCAA Scholar All-Americans: Rachel deLahunta (Class of 2012, Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland), Karen Meess (Class of 2014, Hamburg, NY/Frontier HS), Sara Spielman (Class of 2013, Belmont, MA/Belmont).

To qualify for a CSCAA academic award, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale. Individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and produce an NCAA qualifying performance – either an automatic performance or a provisional one.

Divers deLahunta and Spielman both provisionally qualified on the three meter board. Meess was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the 100 yard backstroke.
