The Intercollegiate Tennis Association confirmed what foes have known for some time: the University of Rochester's consistency is displayed in classroom work as well as on the court.
Rochester won the ITA's All-Academic Team Award for 2012 and seven women's players were honored individually for their accomplishments. This is the seventh consecutive year that the ITA has honored the Rochester women with the team award.
The seven individuals are
Jamie Bow (Class of 2012, St. Clare Shores, MI/University Liggett),
Hayley Brower (Class of 2013, Rochester, NY/Gates Chili),
Cara Genbauffe (Class of 2015, Loveland, OH/Loveland),
Alexandra Goodman (Class of 2012, Schenectady, NY/Emma Willard), Tanya Lemelman (Class of 2014, Brooklyn, NY/Midwood),
Danielle Shreck (Class of 2012, Lido Beach, NY/Long Beach), and Cynthia Zu (Class of 2013, Rochester, NY/Singapore American School).
To qualify for the award, individuals must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher in the current playing season and have been enrolled at the institution for a minimum of two semesters. Teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher, taking into account all players on the roster.
